motorcitysoul

housin' authority meets jazz: motorcitysoul is the deephouse production-joint from matthias vogt (re:jazz, infracom records) and christian "c-rock" rindermann. the project is named after the german motorcity (ruesselsheim, frankfurt, the opel headquarter). so far m/c/s released productions and remixes for infracom, stir15, blaze, duplex inc, abullah ibrahim(!), re:jazz and phoniqe feat. erlend oye on dessous recordings. in 2005 mcs released the chez damier co-production kids in the streets "keep on turning" on stir15 recordings which timewarped the listener back to the high days of the chicago prescription & balance sound. "keep on turning" was published as a edition and is currently sold out!

linernotes for the motorcitysoul album - "did you expect it?" (infracom)
by jan "yannick" elverfeld (needsmusic):

Hailing from the infamous car manufacturer city of Ruesselsheim, Germany, Matthias Vogt aka DJ Matt has come a long way. When he asked me to 3 put down some words for his debut album there was no way I could turn down the favour. It's been a while, but in fact we shared quite a few memorable moments. Whether it be on jam-packed dance floors, in sordid little DJ booths around town, or with countless in-depths discussions on thumping kick drums and baddest basslines during his days as a music journalist more than a decade ago. We met in a half-decent Frankfurt discotheque in 1991, got to talking, and discovered our mutual love for illegal warehouse raves, early breakbeats and "Jazzie's Groove". Eventually he invited me to one of his parties. When the same Matthias was hired by Infracom! two years ago to set up the highly acclaimed re:jazz project, I was quite impressed, to say the least, how this man carved his own path to success. Now, with his very own debut album under his Motorcitysoul guise, Matthias deftly blends Soul, Jazz and a variety of modern urban sounds. Switching effortlessly from soul-drenched ballads and midtempo House jams to Detroit Techno, then on to a good portion of R&B, Garage and Pop, he achieves the best of both worlds: variety and intensity.Sonically adventurous yet smooth, this album was co-produced by Christian Rindermann, better known as C-Rock, a true pioneer and original mixmeister on the German house scene as well as founder of labels like Stir 15 and Lofi-Stereo. Oh, and on top of that a former class mate of mine and partner-in-crime since our late eighties school parties. But that's a whole different story...

Well done guys, I might add ;)

further

further is london dj/producer neville attree and german house guru c-rock a.k.a. star*dub.

further - c-rock and neville attreethe pair met up after neville relocated to germany in 2001 and they soon found that their musical influences, juvenile humour and love of the beautiful game complimented each other perfectly.

their trademark sound of twisted vocals sprawled over a minimal groove has produced three singles so far - "stone gold", "good times" and "nowhere left to run" all of which have found their way into some very respectable record bags including those of trevor jackson, ricardo villalobos, craig richards, ata, michael mayer, luciano, woody, steve bug... the list goes on.

further's "acid relapse edit" of richard davis "in the air" (punkt music) was also featured on michael mayer's fabric compilation and their reputation as remixers - skillfully combining old and nu school sounds - is growing steadily. likewise as live performers, with a string of successful gigs in germany, france, uk and switzerland under their belts.

after the release of "(we got) electric soul" / "lost for time" in 2005 (on lofi stereo) and a mental lofi stereo labelnight at berlin's panoramabar the project is currently pending and planned to be continued under neville's direction soon in 2006.

together with his wife and partner in crime tanja, neville also founded gumption records by the end of 2005. their first release "ocho al puma" by italian minimal house honcho renato figoli was an immediate success and clubhit to be found in the sets of ricardo villalobos, sven vaeth, c-rock, fernando grobas (spain) and many more. gumption is distributed thru wordandsound.
